Origin Story
According to the story that has been passed down through the generations, St. Christopher met a child that asked for his help in crossing a river. As St. Christopher carried the boy across the river, a great storm arose and the weight of the child became immense. Once across, St. Christopher remarked he didn’t think the whole world could have felt so heavy. To this, the boy replied that St. Christopher not only carried the weight of the world but also the one who also created it. The boy was Jesus Christ.
From this, St. Christopher became a symbol for travelers who sought safety and protection as they journeyed throughout the world.
